Application

Five steps, two thin coats

Most coating failures are preparation failures, not material failures. This is the sequence we recommend for every coating we ship.

Prepare the surface

Remove dust, moss, oil and loose material. The surface must be clean, sound and dry with no standing water. On metal, grind back rust and flaking paint first.

Repair and reinforce the details

Open cracks into a V and fill them. Reinforce parapet bases, angles and pipe penetrations with coating plus fabric before you coat the field. Clear the outlets and dress the falls so water leaves the roof.

First coat

Apply thin and even with a roller on the field and a brush in the details. Do not build thickness in one pass.

Second coat

Apply at right angles to the first, when the first coat is touch-dry but still slightly soft — typically two to four hours. Not wet-on-wet, and not onto a fully cured film.

Inspect before you hand over

Check for even colour and misses, confirm the film is firm, then run water from the high point and watch it leave down the fall. If it ponds, the roof is not finished.

FEILIANDA produces water-based waterproof coatings and flooring systems on our own line in Hangzhou, China. Every batch is sampled before release — solids, viscosity, appearance — which is why the drum you receive next year behaves like the drum you receive today.

We supply contractors, applicators and distributors directly. Tell us the surface and the volume, and you deal with the people who make the material.

The ones we get every week

What is the difference between 450 and APC 200?
Both are single-component water-based acrylics. 450 carries a higher emulsion content — denser film, higher elasticity and elongation (448 % tested versus 385 %) — and is our recommendation for roofs exposed to strong sun. APC 200 is the workhorse for both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Send us the project and we will recommend one.
How much do I need for my roof?
For the coatings, allow 1 kg per square metre for two thin coats — a 20 kg drum covers roughly 20 m² in two coats. Send us the area and roof type and we will come back with a drum count.
Can I coat over an old coating?
Only if the old film is sound. Anything blistered, chalking to dust, or a previous bitumen or solvent-based finish has to come off first. A weathered but well-bonded film can be washed down and coated over.
How long between the two coats?
When the first coat is touch-dry but still slightly soft under the finger — usually two to four hours. Too soon and the second coat drags the first; too long and the two never knit into one film.
Do you supply samples and private label?
Yes. Samples for site trials, and private label for established distributors. Tell us your market and volume and we will confirm terms.
Which pack sizes do you ship?
Coatings: 0.5, 5, 10 and 20 kg. K11: 3, 9 and 18 kg. Transparent adhesive: 0.5 to 20 kg. PE roofing film: 30, 50 and 100 m² rolls. Floor systems from 0.5 to 32 kg depending on the line.
